Despite the optimistic nature of the various education policies throughout the country, the sad truth is education funding is frequently being cut leaving schools with limited resources. Hazel Dell Elementary School in Springfield, IL is one of these schools. Due to inadequate funding, the students at Hazel Dell Elementary share the same space for lunch, physical education, theater projects, and school assemblies. Additionally, teachers are left without resources and teaching tools that could positively enhance student engagement and retention of lessons. The following fundraiser is an opportunity to advocate for public education funding and, hopefully, raise funds for Hazel Dell Elementary to be used for much needed classroom and school resources and teaching tools. Join the Social Justice and Advocacy Class of the University of Illinois at Springfield in this fundraising event.
